Growth of Electronic Information Exchange in Healthcare

We know how important the exchange of patient data is in healthcare. Electronic healthcare data powers interoperability, diagnosis, analytics and decision support. This infographic examines the growth of electronic information exchange among non-federal U.S. acute care hospitals and outside providers from 2008 – 2014, by data type.

While these numbers are no surprise due to the incentive programs for using an EHR and sharing data, we expect the number will only grow steadily over the next few years.
