Are You Leaving (Reimbursement) Money On the Table?

Did you know that only 21% of patient balances not collected at the time of service delivery are ever collected? 21%! If practices don’t collect at the time of service, it is unlikely that even the reimbursable portion of the service will be collected. Successful practices need the flexibility to augment tools and services to help their certified EHR technology work more effectively. Collection of reimbursement-eligible fees is one of those areas.

Re-evaluating the insurance eligibility of dated patient visits with self-pay balances is a tedious, manual process, but if it is not done you are leaving money on the table. We’ve created a tool to make that process easier and faster. It goes back through past visits with patient balances and checks to see if their eligibility has changed. If they are now eligible it will flag it for re-billing.  It also looks forward and creates eligibility alerts for your staff.

Then there is the matter of write-offs. Processing contractual rate discounts, charity forgiveness or small balance write-offs consume valuable administrative time. Adding unnecessary write-offs to the mix including timely filing of claims write-offs, uncredentialed providers, administrative write-offs and bad debts, staff administration and accounting time spent handling write-offs begs for an automated solution. Well we created a solution for that too. Our batch write off tool will help save your staff time and ensure your books are correct.

Check out our new tools to simplify and speed the financial review of patient eligibility and write-offs. Our goal is to make these tasks smarter, faster and easier for clinics and practices of all sizes.

Batch Eligibility Tool

batch eligibility toolAs more people move from self-pay to insured due to the expansion of Medicaid, and as the number of self-pay patients increases due to the popularity of high-deductible health plans, many patient balances can be collected as eligibility changes. Meet the Batch Eligibility tool, providing an automated utility for both forward-looking and retroactive eligibility.

The Batch Eligibility solution looks forward 48-hours to examine your practice schedule scanning for coverage eligibility. The tool automatically adds chart alerts with coverage effective dates. Unlike an EHR system which may provide a simple yes/no answer for coverage, the Batch Eligibility solution provides the name of the Payer as a chart note.

Retroactive eligibility is a unique feature offered by eMedApps. The tool will scan a practice’s prior balance records for patients seen within a given time period and automatically request eligibility status from the Payor/Clearinghouse for the date of service. If covered, the tool will add the insurance information to the encounter and flag the claim for re-billing.

Batch Write-Off Utility

Our custom Batch Write-Off solution facilitates mass write-offs that complete quickly, without human error, and helps administrative employees stay productive. It provides an automated approach to numerous adjustments including contracts that were not in place at the time of service or providers who were not yet credentialed.

The Batch Write-Off solution simplifies adjustments and allows you to specify different scenarios:

  • Select account or encounter-based write-offs
  • Adjust small balances from the account level
  • Adjust at the encounter level from payor, location, and provider

Both solutions provide actionable insight in an easy-to-understand dashboard format to increase your practice revenue, ensure payment collection and save time. Now that’s Smart, Fast and Easy!
