The Best of 2016 and What to Expect in 2017

EHR incentive programs logoWell everyone, WE MADE IT! The 2016 reporting year is finally coming to an end and you have all survived (hopefully) another year of EHR incentives. Let’s take a look back at some of the 2016 EHR Incentive Programs and look ahead to see what may be in store in the 2017 reporting year.

The Best of 2016

  1. CMS originally forecast a full reporting year for Meaningful Use. That plan was modified as they gave us a 90-day reporting period through 2017.
  2. The final MACRA Rule for next year was released and gave us “pick your pace” options for reporting in 2017.
  3. We said “buh-bye” to the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and Value Based Modifier programs.
  4. It’s officially the last year to sign up for the EHR incentive program so make sure you get that registration and attestation information before the 2016 attestation period ends. The 2016 program requirements will help you navigate key dates and forms.

What’s in Store in 2017?

  1. Clinicians will dip their toes into the MACRA Make sure you’re prepared so you don’t get hit with a -4% payment adjustment in 2019.
  2. Explore options for reporting MIPS information if that is the track that you are on. Here is a MIPS information site to help you and to refresh your MIPS understanding.
  3. Continue on your Meaningful Use payment track until you have finished your payment schedule. If you don’t, you could lose out on MU incentive money and face negative payment adjustments.
  4. Consider webinars and training classes to prepare providers and staff for the upcoming changes. eMedApps can help you better understand upcoming reporting changes and stay on track with further CMS EHR Incentive Program updates.

From all of us at eMedApps, we wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday and wonderful 2017!!
